Taking centre stage

My South African golden retriever friend Toby has been very busy recently, rehearsing for the part of Sandy in a school performance of 'Annie'.

Now, not wishing to blow my own trumpet, but I believe I can teach young Toby a thing or two about holding centre stage...

Alert readers will have spotted that I am not in my normal living room. No indeed, we have upgraded for the weekend. Do you like my new residence?

There is another dog staying here too, called Max, and we have what are apparently known as 'dominance issues'.

I shall tell you more about this most interesting little holiday* at Inshriach House (near Aviemore) when I return to Aberdeen next week.

Meanwhile, Gail is saying "You've got to learn, Bertie, that it's not all about you."
But she's wrong about that, isn't she....?

*I have, of course, been continuing to work on my climate paper, in between other stuff..

  1. What a beewootiful place, Bertie!

  2. GO BERTIE, GO!!!

Hey my bud, I must tell you...

MY own predecessor - Max - taught me to 'Live life to the Max', so my suggestion to you is take your chances! Create as much havoc as you can! This way, you will be secured of centre stage, and you will have a wealth of scientific research, at your pawtips, to make some substantial comments about these strange two-legged-co-habitants of ours.

I can't wait till you get back to Aberdeen...Go for it, Bud!

  3. Of course, it's all about you, Bertie! Just look at the first photo.

Looks like a ripper of a place to explore...and an appreciative audience.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

  4. Bertie - Beware this " Not all about you " nonsense. It all sounds very strange. Let's hope it's just something to do with the altitude and the self evident cold.

  5. You know, Bertie, I always wondered why that play type cast the golden doggies for the lead role. Certainly some daring director could have the vision to do a break out staging with a terrier dog such as yourself.

  6. We have to wonder - is that a billiard table you are sniffing about?

    Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

  7. Just like me Bertie. I always like to be in the foreground, with everyone giving me attentions!
    ~lickies, Ludo

  8. Why WOULDN'T it be all about YOU??? THAT is the question.

  9. Oh, I'm sure it's all about you, Bertie. I bet Gail knows that, deep down, too.

  10. Bewtie
Of couwse it's all about YOU!!!!!!
Hoomans and othews have to just wealize that and adjust to it, hehehe
You awe pawfect in youw wole of centew stage.
Ouw wawm weathew has gone and we'we back to nowmal Spwing..lots of lovely fwesh fwagwant aiw to sniff.
Don't wowk too need plaenty of play to stay focused
    smoochie kisses

  11. Bertie, Bertie, Bertie!!!!

Of course its all about you! You are a terrier, aren't you? Front and Center! Getting what you want!
    Doing what you will!

You really need to help Gail to understand this or I am afraid your life together can only be one of quarrels and disagreements.

    Take it away, Bertie,

  12. That Gail is so very silly to think it's not all about you dear Bertie. Hugs from equally snowy New Hampshire - no peepers yet!

    Buzzy McDuff and
    Pippa Posey Peanut Butter Pants

  13. Bertie, buddy. Gail is just showing-off for the other humans... Of course it's all about YOU!! Front and center... As predicted, it's pouring rain here in Southern California on the first day of Spring! But we need it... sigh...

    Cheers, Bertie!

  14. Your upgrade is purrty good looking. What is she talking about its not all about you!!
    Benny & Lily

  15. It looks like you are a crowd favorite!

    Nubbin wiggles,

  16. Wow! What a cool place! And they allows dogs? Awesome! How can it not be all about you when it IS all about you? Sometimes humans just don't understand :) Um, is that part of a billiard table?

    The Road Dogs

  17. Dat looks like such a nice place...cold but very very nice. I knows you is havin' a great time.

  18. Bertie,

Is that a billiard table half sunk into the ground? Where the hell have your pawrents taken you and how do we get a ticket there?! BOL!

    Love, Dozer and Cooper

  19. I like your upgrade Bertie, and you look the bee's knee's sitting there.

Is that the way they play pool up your end half a table and on its side!!
Gail's wrong it is all about you :)
    See Yea George xxx

  20. WHAT Bertie, its NOT about you?? Just couldnt be that!! Ha! Nice upgrade too!! have fun.

    Jazzi and Addy

  21. hey Bertie,

What a gorgeous house!! I am excited to read about your stay there.

And yes, your Gail is wrong. Of course it is about us dogs! These humans need to understand that dogs always lead the Pack! ;->

  22. We're not sure if it's all about you, or not. But we're sure you landed in a very special place. AND you look like you have settled right in and that you more than belong there. AND that that billiard table is obviously positioned strategically (and conveniently) just for you.

    Enjoy. (We hope you did!)
    Jake and Fergi xx

  23. Well, our security word is 'precomic' which suits your post to a tee. We also want to know who dumped a valuable Victorian or Edwardian billiard table on the lawn, long enough ago that it has eroded deep into the earth. Surely they could have sold it? Shakes our belief in Scottish thrift to the core.
